The father should always have the right and priviledge of naming his heir.

I love the name Spyridon. But I also like Michael. It is a very common name that fits in the 21st century. As a mother I would want to name my child as does the father. Hard to make a choice but i know many that pre pick a name. For me it would be after seeing that precious baby and holding the baby in my arms before I could make a choice.

It's a family name, go for it! Nothing wrong with holding on to a little tradition and recognizing the history if where the fathers family cones from

Even if I didn't like the name Spyridon (which I do), Michael is one of the most common and boring names out there. So in my mind Michael loses by default.
