DJ/Producer Jay Hamilton of Halifax/Toronto recently competed in an online competition that was not conducted in an ethical or fair manner. Jay should have placed 1st and won the competition.

Although Jay received almost 175,000 points based on voting, many supporters were unable to vote because of the unstable voting application - yet there were no problems in Ecuador, the country of the 1st Place entry, Mat Veig.

The contest sponsor, Audio Academy.fm, Toronto was advised of this problem, however, they were unwilling to fix the voting application, even threatening to remove Jay's entry from the competition because his fans were complaining that they were unable to vote.

Because of this, Jay lost 100's of votes in the weeks leading up to the final tally on December 18th and placed 2nd. There were many other problems relating to the competition, including the contest rule infractions of the 1st Place winner, however, none of the issues were dealt with in a professional, business like manner.

This should not have happened. We have no doubt that Jay won this competition and should be playing at Playa del Carmen's BPM Festival in Mexico, the prize for the 1st place winner. We believe that the contest promoter was biased against Jay. Hundreds of FB messages on Facebook and the contest pages support this claim.

Please support us in our efforts to correct this wrong-doing on behalf of one of Canada's favorite DJ's. Our goal is to to insure Jay Hamilton's Canadian presence at the BPM Festival.
