I am a west village resident. I find it appalling that someone would reroute such an iconic parade that means so much to so many residents in my neighborhood. It is disgusting.

I live in the west village and every year I look forward to the parade. Friends of mine enjoy coming to the village to end the parade and we support local shops near by. I don’t want to see this leave the area. Gay friends of mine look forward to being in the village for the parade. Taking it away from the village would be a real shame.

I am heart broken they have moved the location this year. I’ve worked thi event for the past 7 years, I don’t understand why now they want to change the location. It should never move, if it not broken don’t try to fix it. I’m devastated.
Tradition is important. I see no reason to change the parade route.

The new route is totally unacceptable. It has nothing to do with the historic neighborhoods of LGBTQ people. Pride isn't only about the floats and the corporate sponsorships. It's about getting in touch with the history of LGBTQ life. Even Guiliani didn't attempt this police state tactic during his anti civil rights administration. Also as to claims that it's too disruptive to the residents (mostly straight) who have gentrified the West Village, if you move into the middle of LGBTQ Mecca, you should expect to have your life disrupted one weekend a year.
I thought that you were better than this.
