The board finally folded and approved The Modern School of Innovation and Creativity. They tried their best to block our progress but the pressure from all of you forced their hand. We won this fight and now we hold them to every single promise they made to our students.

The Modern School of Innovation & Creativity is an arts-integrated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) school that focuses on successful social-emotional development of all students. The school will provide educational services to underrepresented, gifted, at-risk or academically challenged, K-8th grade students.

We believe that one of the best ways of learning is through "doing" or experiential learning. Furthermore, our belief is that once students are provided with adequate background information on a topic, they are free agents to research, explore, plan, design, develop and assess their work with the assistance of their teacher-facilitator and peers. This learning approach allows students to not only absorb newly-acquired information, but develop independent, creative, communicable, cooperative, critical thinking and leadership skills necessary for college preparation and productive 21st century citizenship.

Students will learn from evidence-based and outcome-based modern approaches. From gifted students who long for a more rigorous challenge to academically-challenged students who urge for the opportunity to show that they, too, can be productive learners but through different methods, our students will thrive in their inclusive classroom environment. Students will engage in small group interactions and high-quality projects to assure that they not only learn new information but take away deeper meanings and real-world, global experiences.

Additional School Highlights Include:

  • Innovative/Creator Labs
  • Agriculture Experiences
  • ISTE Technology Standards
  • High Quality Project-Based Learning
  • Social-Emotional Training
  • In-class Global Expeditions
  • Gifted/Advanced Educational Program
  • Modified Assignments/Lessons for Student Success
  • After-School STEAM and Academic Enrichment
  • Committed and Engaged Staff
  • Community Partners who Provide Hand-on Experiences

Our school welcomes all students including those who are: living in poverty; attending high-minority schools; performing far below grade level; homeless; in foster care; disabled; and English learners.

We understand that certain students require additional supports. For those students who require additional supportive services, we will provide specialized tracks to address individualized circumstances.

The Modern School of Innovation & Creativity is applying to become a free, state-approved, public charter school.

We plan to open this school in August of 2023 (dependent upon approval).

We need your support by signing this petition if you agree and support this school opening in your community.

The school board is still ignoring our demand for a truly modern education. We are almost at two hundred and fifty signatures and that number will force them to recognize this movement. Get this link to three more people right now so we can hammer them with the reality of our numbers.

Kids need to learn how to solve real problems not just pass tests. Great idea.

About time we had an option like this for the kids who get left behind by the public school system

This is the future of education. Stop forcing students into boxes and let them create.

Finally a school that actually cares about how kids learn. My son would thrive in this environment instead of just sitting at a desk all day.
