Expansion of Glencoe Titans Football program
Parents of Glencoe youth who are interested in a competitive, tackle football program wish to formerly request that the Glencoe Park District allow an additional age/weight class to the existing, and highly successful Glencoe Titans football program. Specifically, we request the addition of a fifth division team of 3rd-4th graders in the Fall of 2008. The Glencoe Titans football program is the largest travel football program in New Trier and is part of the Chicagoland AYF League. AYF is the largest league in both Chicago (200 teams and 5,000 players) and the nation (400,000 players in all 50 states) with safer age levels and weight limits, mandatory play rules, mandatory weigh ins and birth certificate checks at each game. The Glencoe Titans Football program is a 501C non-profit organization and a Glencoe Park District affiliate. This successful football program prepares participants for high school football, and is governed by national rules, local and national playoffs, insurance, and NFL sponsorship. Currently, there are four teams of 4th - 8th graders in four separate divisions: Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and All Americans. Glencoe Titans football teaches not only football skills but also teamwork and sportsmanship. Football builds character like no other sport and practices ares great conditioning exercises for the kids. New Trier has many more Glencoe boys playing football than soccer, basketball, and baseball combined. The need to include younger players is integral to the overall program and is desired by parents of next year\'s 3rd-4th graders, as displayed in this petition.
