Pathetic, absurd, outrageous and just plain ridiculous...... Since when do they have the right to stop anyone giving a heartfelt well deserved gift of appreciation to teachers and carers. It saddens me the world has turned out like this!! Singleton council you are pathetic!!! Who stole the Xmas cheer for our KIDS .....yes that's right the kids... You wankers did!! Shame on you!!!

While I understand governments need to be regulatory I feel that, in this case, regulation has gone too far and lead to dehumanisation. There's a line and I believe singleton council had crossed it

what is the harm in children giving their teacher/care giver a small thank you gift. This Country is becoming a joke!

Some kids work really hard and put so much thought into a Christmas present and the end of year.
Perhaps people need to have a little think about the kids .

It is silly that children and families can not give a person that they love, respect and admire a gift to say thank you for loving and caring for me this year.

My kids are very upset about not giving their teachers at another Council run Childcare facility, a gift this year. Why not put a dollar limit on it instead - gifts under $20 are unlikekt to inspire corruption surely?

As a local business owner making hand poured soy candles, one of my busiest times of year is teachers gifts. The thought that goes into these from the parents, for the children to give gifts to their teachers is huge! We trust these teachers with our children daily. Teachers are a great role model In our children's lives. To show them they're appreciated and, for your child to give them a small gift brings joy for everyone involved. Christmas is for giving, not only to those in need, but to those we, love, trust, and appreciate. What example is this setting for our kids in the future?

Our child care educators do a fantastic job looking after & teaching our kids. A small token of thanks should not be an issue!!! Especially from children to a teacher!!!

Since when are we told by anyone that we can not give a gift of appreciation??
I will not be told what to do by anyone and if I want to give a gift then I will, have me charged or what ever the punishment for this rule may be, but it won't be stopping me.
Absolutely insane!!!!

Please don't discourage parents teaching our children about showing appreciation to those that teach them, nurture them and have been entrusted to care for our most valuable assets.

Where has common sense gone!!!
Christmas is all about giving and not receiving. The joy and enthusiasm my kids have in choosing and giving their teacher is very humbling and rewarding.
This is absolute nonsense!!!!!

I think the policy should be changed to allow council child care workers to be able to accept gifts from the children they educate. I can understand why other council sectors shouldn't accept gifts but this shouldn't apply to the childcare centre.
