Although a resident of Dumfries, I travel across Scotland by train in my charity work. Any new lines would be welcomed by me!

As a resident of Lockerbie, a reinstated rail link would be a benefit to my commuteto Dumfries and may help break up the monopoly the bus companies have on their expensive and infrequent route between Lockerbie, Lochmaben, and Dumfries.

Very few folk thought the Borders railway would be used. Look at it now! Good luck!

It's worth investigating the possibility of re-opening the railway to help people with their travel

The bus service to Edinburgh is not a coach, is very slow and irregular, and has no seat belts or toilets. The bus to Lockerbie is on a dangerous road. Connecting to the West Coast main line would be of great economic and social benefit. They could then rebuild the line to Cairnryan and Stranraer for Green and sustainbale travel for the whole region. Dumfries and Galloway is ignored while millions are spent on the Borders and Highlands.

Very important rail link for locals but also for visitors and tourism.

It is ridiculous that D&G does not have this link to Scotlands main cities and main areas of business and trade. It is vital for this rural economy to connect to business, air travel, recreation, tourism, education and families. Otherwise this community withers and is forgotten.

A direct link to Edinburgh would be of real benefit to me personally. I currently drive to Edinburgh regularly to visit my daughter and grandson however the A702 is not the best road and it's condition is appalling as a direst link to our capital.

It's very important to invest in infrastructure in the South of Scotland. We're being left behind!

Reducing the carbon footprint can only be good. Let's not all drive cars to Lockerbie to get the train!

Connect Dumfries to the capital to revitalise the region. Commuters could cycle to the station instead of driving 40 miles/day like I do just now.

Would reduce all the traffic through Lochmaben and be able to almost go door to door

I think it's an excellent idea to restore this link. Our roads can't take much more of the heavy traffic they are forced to cope with. These roads were built for horse and cart, not huge timber lorries. The roads would be much safer for normal traffic too and people would be more likely to take a train to work rather than struggle to find a parking space.
