The more direct line options from SW Scotland the better. Dumfries needs to be THE hub to the East and West of Scotland once again!

This has been needed for far too long now. It will help boost the economy and housing market in Dumfries tenfold

Lobg overdue, and if it only needs 14 miles of track that woukd save a 12 mile car/bus journey to Lockerbie! Many folk would take their families to stunning Edinburgh, so much to see and do!

From childhood I have known Dumfries to be a surprisingly vibrant town, artistically and commercially, despite its small size and distance from large population centres. Yet it has always suffered from being at the edge of the Dumfries & Galloway region's railway black hole: only indirectly connected to the capital; only slowly connected to Glasgow; and bizarrely cut off from Stranraer and the towns between altogether. The tourism sector that I work in suffers particularly from this imposed public transport isolation, but every sector of the town economy could benefit from proper railway links - the service we currently subsist on seemed out of date even when I was a child.

Like most of the railway network it should had never been closed in the first place.

We need all the small stations and lines back up and running if we are really going to tackle our climate and transport issues.

As a young person who is falling more and more out of love with the terrible and increasingly inaccessible Stagecoach bus service connecting Dumfries to the Central Belt, I would strongly urge our government to seriously consider this action.

The rail link from Dumfries to Glasgow and Edinburgh is nothing short of appalling for town the size of Dumfries.
