Give Canadians access to permethrin-treated clothing to prevent tick bites/Lyme disease

Forty years ago I first ran into ticks in Buzzards Bay, Mass. It was twenty years later that I first heard of them in the Atlantic provinces. Today, they seem to be everywhere and a big nuisance. During the summer months my employer hires a fair number of student help to augment my full time grouindskeepers. Keeping the ticks at bay is an everyday necessity and almost impossible. If this product were available to us as a deterent to getting deseases it would be welcome

Lyme Disease Prevention clothing is a necessity and permethrin treated clothing helps to fight it!!

The fact that we are unable to protect ourselves with permetherin spray on clothing in Canada is absolutely absurd. It is highly effective and poses minal risks when applied correctly. Given the massive health risks associated with lyme disease and the accepted use of permetherin as a tick combatant in other parts of the world why is Canada dragging it's feet so badly???

I work in the utility industry and our employees are regularly working in areas where ticks are common. In eastern ontario where we are located, a high percentage of ticks have been found to carry Lyme disease. More, they cannot use DEET containing sprays on their protective clothing because it is flammable. Permethrin Spray is safe to use on this clothing, and would help protect our workers from tick borne illness! We need this spray to be made available in Canada to protect our workers!

Why is our gov't so slow to have anything available here. They recommend this product, yet it is NOT available here. It is bad enough that they were so slow to acknowledge Lyme Disease after all these years. Now they are stopping the one thing that may protect us - guess they enjoy using all the health care dollars on treatment for everyone!! Get your stuff together Canada - this is beyond ridiculous! Looking after someone who has chronic lyme disease now for 7 years (Chronic, because the gov't would never acknowledge the disease!!!!

Treating clothing with permethrin is recommended by the Government of Canada for the prevention of insect- and arthropod-borne diseases (https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/insect-bite). Given the rapidly rising incidence of tick-born disease in Canada, there is no obvious reason to block the sake of permethrin treatments and permethrin-treated clothing in Canada. It is in fact legal for individuals to purchase theses items in the US and import them into Canada for personal use. The present ban on sale in Canada seems arbitrary and endangers the health of canadians.

It well-past time for the Canadian government to get all over this issue - that is, preventing Lyme disease and, further, doing all that they can to finding a cure for it. When one hears of the pain, suffering and heartache associated with this disease, it is hhard to understand why more is not being done.

Im looking for treated clothing thats light and cool to wear in the summer. That chemical is harmless tp jumans when infused into clothing.

People are already cross-border shopping for this stuff. Personally, I will do everything possible to avoid getting Lyme Disease. Permethrin is a must for me when camping and hiking.
