Ticketing websites are vague and unhelpful. I was on two sites waiting for Jamie T tickets at 09:45 and had hotels and transport lined up ready to click "submit". At 10:00am I refreshed he page and I was greeted with "tickets not available". If I believed that these tickets were sold (if they even were sold, since it didn't say "sold out" until over an hour later) to fans then I could accept that i was too slow/unlucky/whatever but judging from comments on ticketing websites,twitter etc. Very few fans managed to get their hands on tickets. There should be industry standards in place that prevent people reselling tickets. When purchasing tickets each ticket should be assigned a unique ID with the ticket holder being named and required to show ID. In order to delay entry times, tickets could be swapped for wristbands/stamps/a second 'boarding pass' type ticket at the venue, on the day. In the event of someone being unable to attend, that person should be able to inform the ticketing company who could reissue the ticket to another person through a 'waiting list' type system. With no profit being made by the original purchaser whilst also being able to receive their money back if the ticket is sold. This system wouldn't be overly difficult to implement and perhaps the booking fees and other costs would be more justified if this type of system was put in to place to avoid having to purchase tickets for 3x the price online.
