STOP BIG BROTHER FROM DRAMATICALLY RESTRICTING POWERBOATING ON THE LOWER FOX

They need to do this SOUTH of the Algonquin dam.

Please do NOT destroy the lower Fox River. Make your “Ecosystem Water Trail” south of the Algonquin Dam.

My property has been in our family for almost 70 years. During these years we have enjoyed boating, canoeing, fishing, waterskiing and powerboating and have paid high taxes for the privilege. The changes you are suggesting will diminish our property values, not to mention negatively impacting the marinas, restaurants and bars we enjoy along the Fox. This is like trying to put a bicycle lane on the expressway. The “safe zones” or no wake areas would actually be the entire length and width of the Fox River from Burtons Bridge to the Algonquin dam. Over the past 70 years on the Fox river, any experienced boater can attest to the fact that there’s an appropriate time and place for whatever activities you enjoy.

This obviously has not taken the interests of the home owners or business owners along the Fox into consideration. We live on the river just north of the Algonquin dam and regardless of what day or time of day it is there is very little canoe traffic. At least not enough to be considering doing something like this. One word “unacceptable”!!!

I hear that there is controversy about exactly what is actually proposed. I'm signing the petition just in case there is a risk of the river being closed to power boats. I own a house on the river and have a modest power boat. I am opposed to either extreme. One extreme would be to close the river north of the Algonquin dam to power boats. The other extreme, which I also oppose, is high-powered cigarette boats that are loud and dangerous as they speed through our narrow waterway. I am in favor of some sort of reasonable restriction on size of boats and speed on this river.

I live on the river so that I can boat and ski and tube. Making it a safe zone will take away this ability which was my sole reason for buying my home here. If I wanted a now wake waterway I would have bought elsewhere.

We need to stabilize the shoreline...spend the money there or the river will continue to shallow up

Kayakers have the channels and everything south of the dam. The river survives on the revenue generated by all the people with power boats and PWCs

Allow power boats on the river.

Leave the Fox as it is, please.

Typical of government now to sidestep parties that risk then not getting their way. You are our representatives ..not people in power... ALL voices need to be heard

Don't make any changes, this will hurt businesses, homeowners, taxes, and the draw to our towns. We moved here for the very things the river offers us

I kayak on the river when it is an appropriate time. I support no restrictions on powerboats. Water trail should be south of Algonquin rd dam to east Dundee.
