This plan is ridiculous. I can’t think of anything less safe that trying to implement “safe zones” on the busiest waterway per capita in the nation. The lower river is narrow enough as it is, and there is ample time for non motorized boaters and recreational activities during the weekdays and early mornings. I’ve lived on the river for over 20 years and any experienced boater can attest to the fact that there’s an appropriate time and place to go out. If you want to canoe during the rush of a Saturday afternoon, go to the Crystal Lake Recreation Area or find a quiet lake. I support this petition 100%.

This is a river, where there are speedboats, skier's, and tubers! Kayaks, canoe's and/or any other unpowered boaters can go to Island Lake for that, it's not that far away.

Somebody should do there homework before proposing new bills. Making everybody do Boat safety classes is a good idea

As a homeowner on this part of the river, changes of this magnitude are unacceptable. It not only changes the reason we bought this house but also our resale value. My husband and I enjoy kayaking and have been quite satisfied with using our kayaks at safe times and then enjoying our power boat as well. There can be the best of both worlds without making any changes that negatively impact the people who live here. If you wanted to primarily kayak or paddle-board, you wouldn't buy on this part of the river, south of Algonquin dam is where you would want to be.
