Give back the alcohol licence to Raj’s Place

To sell the notion that the alcohol licence should be granted because of the family history is laughable. Give it to them if the area needs it. (which is appears it doesn't need but hey another offy makes no diff per se but he another one makes no difference). The father who the shop is named after was arrested after trying to flee from a fire above the shops in a flat were drugs were being harvested also was in prison for various other things. The grandfather did time for fraud... Just saying ...... Give them the licence because it may give Mr Gill a chance to flourish where his family failed.

I work in the local health centre and since the shop has reopened, the riff raff that used to be stood outside is non existent. I now feel safe to walk home in the area. I’ve only known the family a few weeks and they are polite and a credit to the local community.

They should be granted the license as the shop had the license before and it would have carried on if the shop stayed open through out the last few years.

The council and police are being very unreasonable here. Sounds pretty pathetic when there's an off licence situated 4 minutes away. I thought we were supposed to support local businesses not prevent them from functioning. Why can't they make the people who are staying there wear some sort of identity wrist band so you guys know not to serve them, that way you know where they have come from. Alot more can be done on their side instead of applying so much pressure on Mr Gill.

That’s not a valid reason. People who drink will travel to buy it so why stop a family moving forward to honour the family business that their late grandfather and father built and the respect they earned in the area. There’s plenty other things the Council should be concentrating on right now and using people’s moneh towards than to let a family run business continue their hard work and dreams.

Shop was there first , give them there license back

This decision should be over turned

Close the Sally army down!! As a neighbour who resides next to the centre I am constantly finding needles and bender spoons next to my house. I find residence of the centre outside my house at 4am and when I notify the staff the simply say "we'll see what we can do" it's not an alcohol problem in the area it's a drug problem!

I regularly use this shop and would like to purchase my alcohol from her again

This is very unfair and not appropriate. Surely relevant conditions could have been imposed. Good luck on the appeal and let's hope the court sees sense.

wow... i am from wolverhampton and i cannot believe how cov council are behaving. bottom line is if they want it they will go out and get it. the shops been there for years its only down to the previous tennant the license not being renewed. if cov council do not want to provide the license then the family should be presented with a compo.... as it is unfair! good luck to the Gill Family

I’m disgusted in Coventry council, this family owned business should not be penalised for their council own mistake. Give them the alcohol licence!

Not sure how the rest of the surrounding community should go without for the few that habit the salvation army and more to the point there are off licences within a few hundred metres anyway At least it could be monitored by staff at the location and reviewed at descrection Also work in tandem with the shop keepers to if not eliminate but at very least minimise and monitor the situation Personally the shop has my full backing and support and after living in close proximity to this business I've had first hand experience of the delightful family for nearly all of that and have always been met with the most courtesy and professional service No one would be more suited to run the establishment and provide a responsible approach to serving alcohol let's not block and put barriers to local business owners but work with them to active a balance and a service that everyone benefits from and restores a one delapadated building that was let's not get confused was a terrible eye sore and a sad reminder of what once stood We are the people and it should be our say that has the most bearing on this decision

Give them the Licence back...

I believe that alcohol should be sold from this shop so that honest people can make a decent living. I strongly believe this will have no detriment affect on those people attending the Salvation Army opposite.
