I agree with this petition. I don't understand the tights requirement. I don;t understand why this is being implemented now versus past years. I would like to know why the policy really is changing. I feel that if some kids are not meeting the dress code, those kids should be dealt with directly instead of changing the policy for all. simply talk to the kids who are not meeting the dress code.

I'm concerned with the requirement that the girls have to wear tights with longer skirts all year round. It might be appropriate during very cold winter days, but in the warmer months, it will be too hot. It is very uncomfortable to wear both. If modesty is the issue, the longer skirts should address that. After PE class or during hot days, the double layer of clothes will hold in sweat and heat. I think you will see an increase in dermatitis and skin irritation, especially around the waistband. I work in the occupational medicine field, and I see skin problems in workers who wear too many layers on warm days. Therefore I would not recommend that they be required to wear tights with a longer skirt.

Mary didn't have to wear tights to be modest, so why should we?

even with tights there's no guarantee that girls won't wear short skirts.

Wearing uniforms already makes us basically look the same and with wearing fashionable socks, it expresses uniqueness in each of us. To me it makes wearing uniforms a little more tolerable. Nylon tights are and will never be comfortable and making us have to wear it everyday is ridiculous.

I think getting a complete new uniform is stupid. This is just another thing that Nietzel wants to do to show she makes the decisions. I never got a true high school experience due to the rules changing every year. No one wants to go to STM because of the reputation. Quit making changes for the dress code and get new teachers, earn respect from the students, and treat everyone equally. Money isn't everything.

Since I have joined the STM family, I have felt very welcomed and respected as a student. But now it really upsets me that I'm required to wear something that covers my legs with no explanation other than boy's are getting distracted by my bare legs. It tells me that it's my fault the boys can't focus and that the school would rather take me out of class with no excusable absence that would affect my record. So what this new rule is basically telling me is that the boys' education is more important than mine, and that disgusts me. To be honest, sometimes I now feel ashamed to be going to this school, which is something I never felt before until now. Plus by buying all these new uniforms, I'm spending unnecessary money that I could've used for something more important like college expenses.

I agree with this. The guys are forced to wear only a certain brand of Khaki pants also, which means we have to purchase new pants. It is our senior year. I believe they should only enforce this to the lower classman and let at least the seniors finish without having to purchase new uniforms that they are only going to wear for a couple of months before we throw them away.

Please don't make rules just for the sake of making rules. I thought we had moved past doing that. Thank you.

My sweet little cousin doesn't need to be hot or uncomfortable because of a rule meant for the otherwise "unclassy" young ladies in her school. She is one of the most classy girls to attend the school, for sure.

Requiring tights is not going to fix the problem of short skirts. Just enforce the old policy. Also, we are allowed to hem the new skirts so what was the point of getting new ones, especially for us seniors with one more year and we already had enough uniforms to get us through one year. It's ridiculous to make us wear tights especially all year round.
