Girls sports matter

Basketball has been my favorite sport since i could remember and idk what I’d would be doing if i wasnt playing! No matter the circumstances the environment has always been fun and positive . As a captain/leader its my job to push the girls to be at their best even when we have no control over the situation, this past year was hard because we were out of control of the coaching situation and we knew then and know now that we do deserve better. Someone with more experience and knowledge of the game, if you ever played basketball competitively you would understand. I’ve always been respectful and a hard worker...my stats and accomplishments can speak for me. I thank everyone who supported us and tried to help no matter what happens we work hard and we fight for the things that matter to us. We care about our futures as players and want to succeed. Me and all of the varsity starters work during the off-season and play aau... we spent years rebuilding this program and it’s sad to watch it fall to crumbles. This is my senior year and i kinda just hoped for change but what can you expect...

Girls sports matter! Soccer has made my daughter work harder for what she wants and gives her a sense of achievement!! Not much can do that...just being able to play and grow playing a sport...!!!

They have been running the same plays for multiple years . Until you take it seriously and treat them with the same focus and attention as your male driven sports you will always live in the shadow of other Greece schools .

I think Jeff Jung would be a great addition to the girls varsity coach. He has coached my son for the last past 6 years through GBA and also in AAU for team Elite. He’s a good coach. I love his coaching and he’s also a great person. I think he would be perfect for the girls varsity basketball team at Olympia High, so let’s give Jeff a try since what they have hasn’t been working. Maybe it’s time for a change.

The girls have been telling me they won't play basketball for a while now and I think it's time for them to actually get someone who is trying to invest and make these girls happy with playing a sport and not be miserable with it. There is talent, they just need to be guided by someone different in my opinion.

The girls basketball team has better potential with an experienced coach.

Olympia’s girls varsity team are in need of a skilled and experience coach to compete at the level of Section V. The girls also deserve to play against other teams that are fortunate to have an experienced coach that can coach them to Win. I feel like that’s a disadvantage for the Olympia girls to not be fortunate enough to have a good coach who can make them progress and motivate them to win.

My daughter has been involved in many different sports for 4 years and my personal opinion is that they need better coaches across the board.. my daughter enjoys playing all of them and hopes someday to further one Or more of them thru college.. instead of coming home happy she comes home always in a bad mood from losing all the time.. my only encounter with jeff jung’s coaching is when my daughter played summer league with coach green and jeff as asst. i have to say it was one of the times where she was actually learning more about the game and was happy playing.nothing against mr.burke as a teacher, but could not understand when coach green left how jeff would not get the job.. he knew all the girls and things where working in the right direction for the program. Instead I believe the program is going backwards with someone that is not as qualified.. it’s very frustrating as a parent when you see your daughter not happy. Please make jeff or someone qualified the coach that knows the game. That goes for all sports.. start listening to students and athletes or your programs are going to diminish. Thanks
