Girls Matter Harpeth Hall

Harpeth Hall School should only accept applications for admission from girls who are biological females at birth and who identify as a female at the time of application.

Biological males may believe they are females but they are not. There is no scientific evidence that either males or females can biologically change their genetic sex. Follow the science! Conversely, there is abundant evidence that biological males can present a danger to biological females in the intimate settings of an all girls school. Feminists should outraged at the assault on girls who aspire to thrive intellectually, socially and psychologically without the intimidation of biological boys.

In favor of staying true to the original mission of the school. As my daughter said to me “Dad, I just want to go to school and see my friends”

I thoroughly support the parents and friends of Harpeth Hall who have concerns about that wonderful school's losing its identity as a college preparatory school for girls and as a school steeped in tradition and as a school with a long history of academic success and hundreds of faithful alums.

I’ve dreamed of sending my daughter there, but that dream has faded. This pivot towards political correctness makes me lose trust. The board and administration seems be focused on political activism instead of quality education.

Keep Harpeth Hall an all girls school! Do not forget why it was founded over a 150 years ago.

Biological birth sex and “self identifying” as a girl are the only criteria consistent with Harpeth Hall’s mission and will protect girls. Use of ever-changing pronouns, students with penises in girls bathrooms/locker rooms, unfair athletic advantage and potential for sexual assault/rape/pregnancy (as has occurred in female prisons with transgenders) are obvious. The headmistress (or trustees who voted for this woke insanity for an all-girls school) will: harm girls, harm the reputation of HH, increase the risk of lawsuits, and move the focus from merit/achievement to mushy/illogical thinking. As the parent of a daughter in an all girls school this is a slippery slope which does not serve the students of single sex education schools like HH. This is a private school, not a publicly funded institution who has to accept people regardless of their gender. Research shows girls perform better in single sex environments, please don’t turn your back on our mission in order to chase inclusion, remember, when you try to please everyone you usually please no one.

Harpeth Hall is totally moving in the wrong direction for the interest of our children, not only for girls, but boys as well.

As an alum of a cross state all girls school, Please honor your “all girls” history and mission. Girls is an easy biological definition that anyone educated at such a fine institution as yours can easily determine from a scientific standpoint probably starting in 8 th grade biology class. Then add a more conservative view point of your heritage, as well as, the fact that women have fought so long to be recognized to vote, have their own sports teams, be represented in government, education, medication, religion,…… on and on ! Don’t throw away all the advances that women have made just because a man wants to “identify” as a woman. He can do that in many other places than the ALL GIRLS SCHOOL designed to meet specific needs of biological girls. I’m very disappointed that your leadership would yield to such a shallow view point that represents so few people and disregard the ones you seek to serve …. Biological Women!

This will change the social structure of Harpeth Hall.

Why doesn’t Harperh Hall people use a little common since ?

Girls growing up is difficult enough. As an alum and parent of an alum, I am disappointed that this is even a conversation. What has happened to considering the majority of students who joined a single gendered female school and now find themselves in an uncomfortable position that they never expected. The Board and the Head have failed the majority. I agree with this thoughtful petition.

My daughter graduated in the class of 2020. We have contributed to this school for years.

The parents who chose Harpeth Hall as a place of education “free from distraction” for their daughters deserve better than this!
