This is astonishing. It used to be that a young woman would say with great pride that she was an alum from HH. Now, she will forever be looked at differently..."oh, yeah, that school that messed up so terribly over the gender issue. Whew, THAT was embarrassing." Jess Hill & the board have ruined the reputation forever. They should all resign and bring in people that restore the school to it's former excellence.

One could say this performative outrage is naive, considering the new policy sprang from internal demand from existing HH students, and exceptionally heartless, given that 1 in 4 trans girls will attempt to take their own life in their teens. As for the accusation of ageism...my critique is not about one's actual age, but the attitude. If you're not willing or able to learn about the nuances of contemporary issues today because "we didn't do it like that when I was young," well...if the shoe fits, Donna.

We've attended a number events on behalf of our nieces who have attended Harpeth Hall. The legacy and tradition of education, moral values and critical thinking for these young woman all hinges on an appointed administration that honors these values and value the stakeholders of Harpeth Hall. A tradition that has stood for 155 years. Do not allow political activism to sabotage this great institution.

I would like to personally inspect the genitalia of all incoming students it just makes sense. Plus GOD told me it was ok.

As someone with a daughter, I’d rather she share a classroom with any trans students than any spawn your hate filled loins produced.

I’m not an alum, but several of my relatives and close friends are. I went to St. Cecilia. My daughter will one day maybe attend HH who knows. But I’m commenting for my cousin, who is trans. I’m commenting for my niece who is trans. They are real people, with feelings, emotions and identities. Clearly so many of you have never met a trans person. They’re all people. They’re real, I’ve held and hugged them. I love them. You’re all sitting at your keyboard, feeling so brave in your “horror” but half of y’all won’t even write your name on your bitter hatred. They’re not a “danger” to your girls. They’re not ruining your cis daughters’ school experience. No one cares at school. As an all girls school alum I can assure you my appearance at school was distracting on some days, as was the appearance of my classmates. And it had nothing to do with our genitalia. I was shocked and THRILLED that harpeth hall had taken such a progressive stance on accepting all who identify as girls. Reading these comments is making me absolutely sick. You should be ashamed of your hatred and bigotry. This is a slippery slope, you’re sliding back into the time where sexual orientation, race, and fundamentally gender barred people from advances in education, property ownership or even country club membership. What does HH stand for after all?

Sex and gender are different. Read a biology book. There is very much such a person. I challenge you to introduce yourself to a trans woman. They’re normal women like … well I’d say like you but I just don’t know how you “iDeNtIfY”
