I am strongly in favor of keeping the no wake hours from 4:00pm to 10:00am. If a change was made without any consultation to the property owners on the lake, or deviating from the normal process in how this is done, the property owners need to give time and talent to make this right. Local government must not be allowed to execute cloak and dagger initiatives like this without input from their CUSTOMERS.

Please keep the no wake hours on Gilas lake from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These hours provide adequate time for sports craft users to enjoy their activities. These hours also provide adequate time for fisherman, children, etc to enjoy swimming, fishing and other lake activities safely. Gilas lake is a beautiful, peaceful lake...let's keep it that way!

As an attorney supporting the Association I am concerned about how the ordinance was modified and whether proper Administrative Code for enacting such ordinances was followed (proper notice to affected parties, whether change was properly published etc). Also I am very concerned about the safety of those impacted by the change especially small children and those who fish...it seems as though the ordinance was originally passed as a safety focus but changed based on what other safety rationale.

I am an avid angler who also supports all recreation on lakes. I feel the current 10am-4pm no wake ordinance is a great balance for the lake. Hearing of this change without any notice given out to the lake association is very frustrating. It appears personal agendas of a select few elected officials took priority over the general public. Elected officials work for the community they serve. They have an obligation to notify the community of proposed changes and listen to concerns from the community. It appears this process was overlooked which is nothing short of an abuse of power. As a government employee myself, I understand the requirements brought upon us after taking such positions. Unfortunately not all people have the same understanding which is clearly highlighted by this ordinance change.

Please keep no wake hours on Gilas Lake unchanged from 4pm-10am. Why change something that is operating correctly? Please continue to preserve Gilas’ ecosystem and tranquility that is shared by residents, fishermen/women, and nature lovers alike. Gilas’ limited acreage does not justify nor should have to sustain longer wake hours. Six hours during the warmest portion of the day should appease pleasure/sport craft users. This pristine body of water, by no measure, should be compared to or treated like Shawano Lake, Chute Pond, or High Falls Flowage. Thank you.

I would like to see the no wake hours remain 10-4 to allow fisherman time to fish without speed boats and jet skis on the lake.

The excessive water turbulence from the jet boats is washing away the shore line because we have a very high water level.

I’ve been visiting my in laws who live on Gilas lake for years and the 10 am to 4 pm wake time is plenty time for wake activities I enjoy running my runabout but also the quiet time. Many people love to kayak, paddle board, hunt, fish, and enjoy quiet time on the lake. There is no reason to change the times if you can’t use the time allotted then go somewhere else or wait for another day.

The current high falls drama among jet skiers, swimming, fishing and boating is causing jet ski groups to look for other local waters. A huge deterrent to Gilas becoming the jet ski destination of choice is the 4pm end time. Too much of gap in time between that and jet ski groups night activities. When considering this issue please understand that a 2hr extension is a big deal...Gilas will become the jet ski playground of choice.

We have owned property on the lake since 1983. When we first purchased, it was a quiet lake with rarely a water skier or large boat. We mai gained our 6 hp boat and wouldn’t go larger. We still have it. I breathe a sigh of relief at 4 pm Paddleboarders, kayakers, cankers and swimmers come out in droves. People cruise slowly around the lake. After almost 40 years of peace, I oppose the passing of a new ordinance to change the no wake hours. Wake between 10-4 is enough for this small lake.

I am in favor of keeping the wake hours as they were 10:00 to 4:00 pm. I am a full-time resident of the town of Beaver, on Gilas Lake. We purchased the lot 22 years ago; the deciding factor was the no wake hour times. We would not have invested and moved to the Lake if the wake hours would have been any longer. I enjoy when 4:00 comes and we get some peace and quiet. I believe after talking to many fishermen that they also like it when 4:00 comes. There are many people who enjoy the Lake activities after 4:00, such as canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boards, paddle boats and swimming. The Lake supports many different types of wildlife such as Fish, Loons, Osprey, Eagles, Otters, etc. they require quiet time as well. The no wake hours have been in place for over 30 years, anyone using the lake or purchasing property on the lake knew this beforehand. Please respect the nature, the people who use the lake and who purchased property there. Thank You
