He became one of the best, if not THE best first basemen in the 50s after converting from being a catcher. I saw him play and know that he was one of the catalysts that made the Brooklyn Dodgers the great team that they were.

It's unbelievable that he's not in the Halll of Fame yet. He has meant so much to baseball on and off the field. There is no one more deserving.

He was 1 of the premere players on 1 of the premier teams. His stats speak for themselves and he has been deserving of enshrinement for years. Its about time he is with the other elites of the game.

A group of us have tried to influence the Hall of Fame voters and advocate for Gil's induction into the Hall for 20-30 years. There is no excuse for them leaving him out of the HOF. There are players there who deserve to be there far less than Gil Hodges and they know it. It is very sad that most of Gil's contemporaries, who knew his ability as a player, are now gone and are unable to speak in his behalf. The fans who know and loved him must do so while there is still time.
