Shawn has been a musical inspiration for me since I saw him in concert in London Ontario while at college in 1971.
I have all the vinyl albums and a few CD's. I love his writing and guitar and orchestrations. Alan.

It seems that I've been listening to Shawn my whole life, at least since the early 70s. No one's music has shaped me more than his.

Shawn Phillips really deserves to be in the Hall of Fame! He has been a light for hundreds of thousands of people in the world and to me he is and always been. His music is always uncompromisingly original, contains influences from folk, jazz, indian, european and God only knows whatever else can be found and heard, and matches with his lyrical, critical and ever poetic words, to create something else. A voice that is heaven sent. His songs seem to come out of the past, from a world of truthfulness and peace where everyone would be living. That is why Burt Bacharach wisely choose Shawn to sing his song "Lost Horizon" for the 1973 movie with the same name.

Shawn's music was part of a generation that felt thoughtful lyrics and melody were more important than making easy money through shallow songs.
