Get Rid of Downtown Charlottesville Parking Meters

People will go elsewhere with the demand for feeding parking meters.

Far less likely for me to come from Williamsburg and shop downtown if I can't quickly pull in and pull out.

Right now the Downtown businesses need the support of the community It is clear from the comments that people care about Downtown and that the meters are having a negative impact. We don't need 6 months to show that the meters are not working. as intended.

I’m a teacher that works downtown. Your meeters and their signs are unclear. Why are we paying for parking and why did we loose two hour free parking? How do you expect people to work downtown if we have to first pay to be there? And lastly, if you are going to keep these, what are you doing with the money? Have you seen the filth on our streets??

They also have the added “benefit” of not working at random times. The meter refused to accept my boyfriend’s credit card so we weren’t able to pay for parking and just had to hope that we didn’t get ticketed!

Meters have definitely Made it less likely for me to just do a quick stop in a run around at the downtown mall…

The meters hurt businesses and specifically affect the low income workers on the mall who are now forced to pay to come work downtown.

We need to support the Downtown merchants, particularly after this summer's events.

Agree to remove the meter

Since I moved here 17 years ago the city has made it hard for working class people to just park their cars. It’s even worse for the service workers who are basically getting an extra tax by these meters. Improve the bus system.

I have left area due to confusion over this new parking scene, it’s not a good system —for businesses or consumers.

They have been inconvenient and it complicates a simple errand to the bank, grocery, etc. not a good addition to downtown in my opinion.

please make it easier not more difficult for shoppers to support local businesses. There is no fee to park at Stonefield or any other big box mall. Help small businesses succeed in Charlottesville.

The parking meters seem to be confusing to people. I have watched people try to figure them out.

The parking meters are just another reason I don't shop or eat downtown.

The meters discourage me from going downtown

Expensive and unnecessary- like a lot of things a City Council decides to do,

It is already difficult enough for people to park downtown. Why give them yet another reason to go elsewhere for their shopping and meals, etc.

Bad idea.

I stopped shopping downtown when the meters were added. I'd love to come back down.
