In addition to the reasons stated in the petition, I would like to add that this situation makes it unsafe for females who have to park farther away from the mall in order to snag a free spot when they walk from/to their car alone.

Make the city accessible to visitors and get rid of the confusing parking meters.

This is a poor idea.

Parking has always been an issue for downtown merchants / businesses. The parking meters only made it worse.

In 24 hours there are already 320 signatures on this petition. It is clear that the public , the business community, the residents and visitors alike think the program should be shelved. I urge Council to listen to the community.

The City of Charlottesville needs to admit that they made a poor decision when they implemented the parking meters. The program is hurting businesses and our local economy. It penalizes people for going to the Downtown Mall at a time we should be encouraging people to go there. There is still time to correct the situation and remove the meters.

We need to listen to and support our downtown merchants! I agree with the concerns about these meters.

I am much less likely to shop downtown with installation of meters. I think it is a dis service to the merchants in the downtown area as well as a turn off to those visiting.

Another brilliant move by city council. Take the meters away.

I believe that we have just enough paid garages. I frankly think C'ville parking meters are making everything cluttered.

If I did not work Downtown I would never come Downtown because parking is so difficult.

Sucks when coming from out of town. Discourages visiting certain areas.

So often new meters force us to pay more than the time we need to park.

I work downtown and the parking meters have made it impossible to find free parking.

Support downtown businesses don’t fight against them

The new parking meters have become a deterrent to going downtown. If I can get what I need somewhere else just outside of downtown, or want to grab lunch, I've been choosing to go elsewhere since they were installed.

Get rid of the meters! Stop hurting DTM businesses and workers. I think the City has done enough to deter people from going downtown. Start working on solutions to get people to come back.
