Agreed. His mindless babble ruins the races. He should watch Channel 4 coverage of the Tour de France to get an idea of what good commentating is. Cyclists do NOT stand up next to mountains and cut them in half. They ride bikes.

Carlton just fills the gaps between the insightful commentary from Sean and Robbie/Adam. And he fills them with drivel, he sounds sometimes like he thinks he’s doing a standup routine, and just cracks jokes and laughs at them, while missing what’s actually happening in the race. Constant baseless speculation on what’s going on. Rob is a MUCH better commentator

I agree absolutely to the petition to remove Carlton. His gobbledegook is a distraction from the actuality occurring on the screen. Also his discourse is peppered with irrelevant clichés...fed up with it.

Carlton Kirby has spoilt my viewing of cycling for many years, he has commentated on cycling for many years but still does not understand it. He professes to know what every rider is thinking and once he has formed his opinion of events to come he.sticks with it regardless of what is happening on screen. He talks drivel and has a sense of humour that only he understands. Please put him out to pasture and let the viewers enjoy the cycling instead of screaming obscenities at Carlton.

I do not really agree with everything in the article. But I think Kirby just talks to much. He rarely ever pauses for even a second. He also talks too much about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the race. And everything is funny to him. He laughs at absolutely everything.
