He laughs all the time and there's nothing funny , ignoring what's going on in the race while guys are busting a gut

His pathetic commenataries really spoil watching cycling. I'm always glad when he goes for lunch.

I was reading your comments and reasoning for the petition, and I literally felt like I'd written it myself!

Agree with all comments. He annoys me intently. He thinks he is very funny. I really don't like watching the cycling on eurosport and only wish the brilliant ITV4 team were able to commentate more. They give a knowledgeable entertaining experience.

Why is Carlton Kirby employed as a cycling commentator? He constantly spouts inane nonsense and laughs for no apparent reason. The breakaway with Laura Winter and guests is excellent.

You can get French commentary via Discovery+, can't you? Even if you know no French (like Kirby), it surely has to be more intelligible than his blathering??

On Sunday, I deluded myself into thinking I might be able to bear watching the last 4km of the stage. First thing I heard was 'Bittner may well be that man. Let's hope he can chew it at the end.'

This man spoils my viewing of grand tiur cycling; he's all ego and little knowledge. There are endless examples every day he's on air - at today's Vuelta he had already decided who would win the stage and called it before they crossed the line, only to be proved wrong ... yet again.

Two days in a row on the 2024 Vuelta we get "the wide open plain where the rain in Spain falls apparently according to the legend" and we're only on Stage 5!

I am the person who started this petition, and I have just done the same. Had enough.

I think a lot of people must find this petition that way - or googling to try to find out why he is still working. I cannot find his age anywhere online.

100% agreed with everything you. Very very boring commentary. I was actually googling his age hoping he’d retire soon when I found your page.

Sorry Carlton but I can’t take any more. Eurosport has plenty of good commentators who know something about cycling and don’t make unpleasant personal remarks about the riders. Let’s hear more of them especially on Grand Tours. I never want to hear another reference to Stanage Edge. (And I was a geography teacher… )

This man is the Alan Partridge of cycling commentary with his incessant word salad waffle. I've never known someone use so many words to say so little. And then there's the finish line hysterics and shouting. He spoils every race he's involved in and now he has the anchor role in the 2024 Vuelta. Disastrous.

So disappointed that Kirby is doing the Vuelta. How much longer will Eurosport keep him on???

Yesterday, on the Vuelta coverage, he went off on a wholly baffling digression about Portuguese colonisation, ending with 'Historically-speaking, you can write your own history'. Well, I did not know that. And I strongly suspect that's exactly what he was doing. After all, he makes everything else up.
