Carlton Kirby must be the worst commentator on TV in any sport. His constant ridiculous wordplay, his "lets wait and see, shall we? " and other phrases he uses all the time grate badly. He is knowledgeable about professional cycling but rather comes across as a buffoon. He is well past his best before dare. To be honest, so is his partner in crime Sean "Yes, well" Kelly - brilliant cyclist, dreadful commentator. More Matt Stephens please!

His inane blabbering ruins the enjoyment of this amazing edition of the Vuelta.. and how dare me moan constantly about the fantastic visuals provided by Spanish television for our enjoyment, oh how I miss the magical descriptions provided by the much missed Paul Sherwin

He’s childish, easily bored and has little real empathy with racing cyclists. He rattles on mostly about himself whilst important actions are taking place especially during time trials.

Kirby always spoils my enjoyment of the cycling. He just waffles on about nothing, which gets so frustrating. Such as 'a mechanical for convenience' and later ' de Gent with a puncture of convenience'. I wonder how he got the job in the first place. Plonker.

Agree. Once again it is impossible to enjoy the live Vuelta with Carlton Kirby loving the sound of his own voice. He is more irritating than ever. ITV4 highlights now.
