I pray that one day there'll be an abrupt silence which means that one of the cycling experts has knocked him cold. He must get on their nerves as much as he does ours.

I can’t bear this man! His ‘erm’ count is exceptionally high and his microphone technique is cr@p - I can hear every gulp of air. Commentating at the top of his voice - sounds more like a football commentator! Absolutely abysmal. Just get rid of him ...

They have now got him ruining covereage of Le Mans as well. Its simply not good enough. Kirby must simply know people in the industry. He is very very poor at his job yet doesnt get used less and his contract still gets renewed. Eurosport need to take a hard look at this. I watch ITV4 for TdF coverage when i can now.

His French accent on every name is ridiculous, it makes the commentary pointless because you can't understand a name he says. When it comes to place names he is even worse. Perhaps he should work for a French TV company. The crunch came for me when he espoused the French weather stationas if it were infallible, and then laughing at what he thought was the incompetent British weather forecasters. Today he said 'you British fans will be happy'. He is a complete Francophile!

His French pronunciation is only rivalled by Eddie Butler and his inane chatter is infuriating. A shame ITV4’s coverage doesn’t start earlier in the day.

Come on people! If you had to commentate the full live stage, what would you fill your time with? Nothing like a little humour and information about France to fill the time along the way. I think you must be bored. Carlton's style takes a little time to warm up to initially, so give it some time. Of course, we can't replace Phil and Paul... ride on!
