I only just signed up for GCN+ and I'm listening to the UAE Tour, and after only 4 stages, my patience is running thin. He thinks he is so funny and spends a lot of time laughing at himself. He makes fun of the riders, just called out someone for an tattoo he didn't like. It is wrong to insult rider's taste in artwork, and if you say something funny, let your audience laugh, we don't need to listen to you chuckling all the time. I found this when I was trying to find an email to issue a complaint about him.

I too always sigh whenever Carlton Kirby is announced as the cycling commentator. Compared to people like Rob Hatch or Declan Quigley, he imparts almost no useful information while blathering on continually. Others with him like Brian Smith or even Sean Kelly seem exhausted by the relentless inanity. And if I hear him say "wait and see" one more time I'll break something.

Sorry but I totally disagree, just because Carlton isn’t ‘dull and uniform’ and tries to add some ‘colour’ it doesn’t mean that he is worthy of a campaign to ‘remove him’.
Sports commentary, and in particular cycling, has a rich history of such characters; ever heard of Murray Walker? A legendary F1 commentator in the UK. If you dislike Carlton Kirby, god knows what you would have made of David Duffield??!! But next time you are watching and are quick to bash the odd mistake in a quick moving race or attempt at humour you don’t like, just consider; how do you keep a 5 hour transition stage in a 3 week tour interesting and varied as a commentator?
Long live characters like Carlton, it hardly like he’s the only commentator that Eurosport/ GCN employ and as I have communicated here there are just as many of us that enjoy his colourful style and whimsical asides.

Suffered through his gulping breaths (and all the rest) for a whole stage only to hear him call the wrong winner of Stage 5 in UAE...woeful at this level.

I don't want to hear his mouth noises, breathing, miscalling and cheering on a rider...incorrectly, and repeatedly. Making 'off color' remarks about people, signage, UGH. Making my view of the UAE a challenge. BRIAN SMITH IS GREAT, THO!!

I am a new USA subscriber to GCN+. I had never heard of Carlton Kirby or heard him broadcast. He is so bad and annoying I goggled GCN+ commentators. I thought his name was "Carlson" because I missed heard Scottish Brian. In doing so I came across this petition - I fully support. What has not been said is: What is with the HEAVY Breathing and inhales -- so distracting, annoying and off putting. There are so many better commentators out there in the English speaking world (America has number of ex-pros that are entertaining and insightful), I am sure that for the same or less money Eurosport GCN can do better.

Turn the sound off. Try a few minutes almost every race he commentates, then just can't take it longer than three minutes. Thought I'd give GCN+ a try. Looked for a refund option, yesterday.

The inane comments, the laughing at his own jokes, the mispronunciation (Almera? Filippo Garner?) I could just about put up with but HE MISSES THE RACING! He didn't know who'd won today in UAE. Put him out to pasture and give Jose Been a full-time contract.

We turn the sound off when he's on. Inane drivel non-stop, doesn't watch the race, continually giggling at his own, unfunny jokes. So many other good commentators - give them a chance.

It’s his daily ridiculousness statements like today. The racing is very messy, and that’s not good. Unless you play for Barcelona.

Rather than Carlton's endless drivel, I'd rather have prolonged periods of silence broken by meaningful commentary from anyone else.

The nonstop laughter and rubbish makes watching any race Kirby is commentating on watchable. He is horrendous.
