I don't dislike Carlton Kirby, but I do strongly believe with the recent addition of commentators such as Dan Lloyd, Matt Stephens, and Adam Blythe, his style of commentating is looking to be more and more out of touch with what the bulk of viewers want, perhaps even a bit old fashioned. Personally, and from reading forums, it would seem that people want accurate commentary, picking out riders, and actual attacks, and also critically we are fine with a bit of silence, we don't need to hear words all the time. I can see how he could well be excellent for other sports, such as perhaps golf, darts, and motorsport (Which I know is one of his manin loves), but for me, with the likes of the 3 names I mentioned above, plus Magnus and Rob Hatch, I think Carlton's skills could be better used away from cycling. He's ruining my enjoyment of Eurosport.

whenever Carlton Kirby is commentating I mute. Shame because there are some good commentaters out there that add to the enjoyment of watching the race, Kirby is just a clown and a distraction .

Laughs at his own so-called jokes.

He ruins the final moments of a race by screaming to artificially heighten excitement. This F1 style of commentary doesn’t allow the cycling to be the focus. It becomes a pathetic marketing ploy for Eurosport instead. Mute button required- whereas other, better-educated commentators let the action speak for itself and the excitement is thus authentic.

Couldn’t agree more - the guy is a buffoon

I have nothing personal against Carlton, however after listening to his commentary for many years I find him frustrating and horrendously repetitive(for goodness sake)! There are many, many better qualified cycling commentators(Rob Hatch, Matt Stephens to name current best 2) and Carlton should go back to his first love, motor sport, he seems to have much better knowledge of this than cycling. Sorry Carlton no harm meant.

Get Dan more airtime

Alan partridge crossed with John shuttleworth except they parody the inane and cliched. Carlton is the real thing!

Seems nice enough, but doesn’t follow the race. Way too many irrelevant and frankly, embarrassing, comments.

I'll re-send the petition after another hundred signatures or so - got to keep trying.

Time to push on, Carlton. With a wealth of alternatives within the GCN roster (Matthews. Lloyd, Blythe, Bäckstedt, Smith, anyone!) it’s time to give ITV4 some competition.

I cannot stand his constant childish giggling and his habit of put down comments to his fellow commentators.Get rid he spoils all cycling programmes.
