Inane, vacuous, disrespectful, pretentious, supercilious, just for a few mild starters to describe this imposter.

agh no where else to watch the Vuelta! thus I am watching it with the sound off and realising that I don't need CK. and yes his comments about non Anglo riders is bordering on racist but in the end its his inane chuckling at his non funny comments .. why doesn't Sean kelly punch him in the mouth? CK is a curse..whereas Sean Kelly he is straight to the point.

His commentary seems to be all about him. Continual mangled plays on words in an attempt to demonstrate cleverness and endless inane chuckling at his own attempts at humour.

He really is beyond his ‘‘Use by date’ ( that’s the sort of comment he comes up with ! ) .
He is vastly inferior to C4 commentators.

I have had to stop watching I can't bare listening to him any longer. The big gasp before he speaks really drives me nuts.

Nico Roche schooling Kirby today, contradicting him on a number of occasions when he was talking utter guff.
E.g.
Kirby said that the pace of the peloton had dropped on the climb.
Roche immediately pointed out that the peloton's numbers were rapidly shrinking, thus the pace was high.
Seconds later we see a climber as good as Carapaz dropping out the back.
Embarrassing.
Of course, this happens on a daily basis - many times - but normally his co-commentators try to ignore his more obvious mistakes/drivel.

I have to watch with the sound muted when Carlton Kirby is commentating.

“That tower (perched on top of a large rock promontory) is a vent for a railway.”
He then witters on about the trans-Pennine railway tunnels.
If there were a railway to be vented beneath said tower then it was several hundred metres below.
The man talks off the top of his head manufacturing all manner of irrelevancies from 0 km to the finish line.

Today we yet again had the 'leave everyone behind in his wake - and it's a wake-up call...'. We also had an amazing bit of poetry when he was describing the stage: 'Not neither the longest either'.
However, having added 'I have to say' at the end of this Eliot-esque effort, I'm wondering whether someone actually has a gun to his head, forcing him to utter all this gobsh*ttery and we've been misjudging him all this time??

Just emailed Eurosport. My god, his intake of breath is excruciating. Sound off as usual.
