Get rid of Carlton Kirby

I agree with the premise of this petition. He also occasionally brings politics into the commentary. Not needed.

I gave up watching the Vuelta as soon as I realised it was Carlton K commentating. My God that man can ramble on. Thankfully the Tour of Britain highlights are on tonight and I can listen to some decent commentary.

He drives me nuts. as well as his inane comments, he laughs at all his own jokes and that really get to me.

Why do we have to put up with the drivel he spouts?

Kirby is horribly ill equipped to commentate on bike racing, or any other sport for that matter. In my opinion, the man talks utter nonsense; the first thing that comes into his mind is blurted out time and again. He continually laughs at his own appalling jokes and dire puns, spoiling race coverage in the process. I have watched the Grand Tours this year with the volume muted when the man is talking. As others have said, it is hugely frustrating to have Kirby on when there are so many other informative, knowledgable pundits that could offer so much more. I sincerely hope Eurosport wake up to the fact that Kirby is turning viewers off.

Not only does he lack the knowledge but he can’t pronounce any of the riders’ names - except the English speakers obviously. Rob Hatch please!

How many times must we hear that someone is 'issuing a little bit of spittle'? We do not need it pointed out that somebody is gobbing. And that's one of the main flaws: he has to talk at all times because of his narcissism. That same narcissism means he thinks he sounds clever when he uses such terminology. I've skipped most of the Vuelta because I simply cannot bear him.

I’m so frustrated with Carlton Kirby I’ve stopped watching the Vuelta. He’s not qualified to commentate on GCN. Dozens of others would do it better. Please find someone who understands bike racing.

The commentators on this week's Tour of Luxembourg were more informative and in touch with what was going on than the Kirby/Kelly team who have descended into a melee of anecdotes and repeated comment. Dan Lloyd and Nico Roche were both informative, fluent and knew when to stop! As for "the ofa" and "Breakaway" whatever is their purpose except to display people sitting elegantly on a sofa?

I've complained before. There are so many excellent, knowledgable, even-handed, engaging, articulate, media-savvy cyclists around now there's no excuse for clinging on to this old timer. Remember how David Coleman's commentaries became excruciating back in the day? This is the same. Does CC even listen back to what he's said? Good luck with the petition. I stopped watching the Vuelta after week one this year.

There are so many good commentators to choose from, why this idiot. Sean Kelly must be squirming beside him. His latest is the 'x' is loud and proud as in he is loud and proud to be called Primoz, Adam, wearing the KoM jersey or just sitting on a bike.

Kirby is a cackling boor, who preening self regard ruins the racing. Ambient sound turned on when he is waffling on inanely.

Like many others I often use the mute button when he commentates. It is the constant "er" and "erm" that irritates. If he doesnt know what to say keep quiet, or preferably Eurosport to use other commentators

The comments about Movistar when Valverde crashed out were outrageous. There wasn't any news of Lopez and Mas falling out however he pushed a story about them having to be kept apart on the bus etc. He just made it all up and hoped it would gain traction. He's a real arsehole.
