Completely agree. Just turne off the Eurosport coverage of La Vuelta because this inane, self-satisfied bletherer is on. One can only conclude he has kompromat on someone high up in Eurosport.

This man is so pompous - he thinks he’s the Peter Alliss of Cycling. Misses all the tactics/positioning. Everything is prefaced with a “maybe” or ended with a “mayhaps” to cover any eventuality or because he hasn’t the balls to call it! I prayed the Vuelta 22 would be on ITV 4 but alas (as Carlton would say) my hopes were shattered! If he really knows as much about cycling as he proclaims perhaps he could use some of this knowledge in his commentary rather than inane asides or stupid jokes or pathetic attempts at speaking languages other than English! Too much sucking in of breath or Ums and Ahs - please, please get rid of him and let him concentrate on his after dinner speaking tours!!!!

He is rude, sexist and racist! After an interview with a Spanish rider from Euscatel he said maybe they will throw a chirizo on the Barbie for him! How does this moron still have a job?

Carlton renders races unwatchable. He blathers on with drivel and pointless asides. He doesn’t name riders or teams in a breakaway, he repeatedly waffles on about worrying about street furniture. The only information he provides I can read for myself on screen.
His ‘laughter’ is irritating. Please Eurosport employ a commentator who can share informative commentary instead of pointless verbal diarrhoea.

Finding the Vuelta hard going thanks to the Alan Partridge style commentary. Not sure we can put up with 3 weeks of this verbal diarrhoea. No problem with the other commentators.

My elderly mum enjoys watching cycling, but even she can't watch the quest highlights, as she says its far inferior to ITV4s because the commentators don't say who's leading when on the screen, and don't explain what's going on, so she gets frustrated as not being able to follow the events. Why do Discovery/Eurosport continue with someone who's so marmite with viewers? I'm surprised their advertisers are happy to have less viewers? Used to love watching ITV4s coverage of the vuelta, but now I'm having to read about it online, as I simply can't abide his amaterish unfunny commentary.
