Last year he had some sort of tour, coming to theatres across the UK, 'An evening with Carlton Kirby' full of amusing anecdotes from his 30 (whatever it is) years covering the peloton.
WHO ON EARTH would pay to go and see/listen to this buffoon - WITH NO MUTE BUTTON !

I only watch Quest highlights for the Vuelta but the constant drivel that endlessly streams from Kirby even spoils that relatively short episode. Seems all he is interested in finding the next memorable sound bike and not actually commentating on what is really happening in front of his eyes,

Carlton Kirby is the WORST commentator on TV on any sport. He is atrocious. Any critical analysis of his skills would lead to an instant removal. Please, please, please get rid of him!!!

He shouts so loud towards the end of each stage that you casn't actually understand what@s going on. both my wife and I now turn off the volume for the last 2km of his commentary. he's a nightmare. please hand the reins over to Dan Lloyd.

Wish I could sign it multiple times for all the years of suffering my ears have had to endure. Carlton is the worst cycling commentator ever, by far.

Sadly Carlton seems incapable of dealing with any drama in the events he commentates on. He gets hysterical when a rider breaks away (even though there may be 50k still to ride); he gets swept up with speculation on what could happen when all we need is commentary on what is happening.
His major sin is his behalf speculation in shrill tones that manage to turn exciting climaxes into irritating whines that detract from the action
