Self publicizing, borish, inane dad jokes, i don't mind colour commentators and Rob Hatch is excellent but Carlton Kirby fills every possible second with the sound of his own voice and his 10km to go naming of a hundred possible winners of the stage rui s the action that is building in front of our eyes. Carlton was great in the dungeon in Paris back in the day but sadly he has regressed as a commentator to the point i now switch to ITV when possible and rejoin the excellent team when he finishes his shift. I am sure he is a decent chap but i wouldn't fancy a pint with the fella, the conversation would be interminable. Eurosport is brilliant as Is GCM which is a shame. Mr Duffield was a legend but you can become repetitive and lack spontaneity which i am sad to say Mr Kirby has now become.

So do I. Doesn't take long to list the clichés which seem to make up his entire vocabulary. Makes listening ever so slightly less intolerable.
We have a rule that you win the game if he stays quiet for more than five seconds (other than when his co-commentator is talking); you won't be surprised to hear that no-one has ever won that way - or even come close.

I play Carlton Kirby bingo, as every single time he commentates, he will at some point say "fill your boots", "smorgasbord", "the terrain we are playing with" and other similar comments. He spouts utter drivel most of the time. No idea what his fellow commentators (usually ex-pro cyclists) make of his inane chatter.

Humour is subjective, and there are over 1,800 people here who don't agree with you.
I feel fine about starting this petition because I've heard how harsh Kirby is on certain riders, particularly the French, and especially Pinot (it's notable that since this petition became popular he's been at great pains to point out how much he likes Pinot - but listen to his commentary from a few years ago and you see his true feelings).
If you are in a position in the media, you can be criticised by the public who watch/listen to you. Should we stop criticising artists, musicians, writers?
I don't need someone who knows little about cycling shrieking incoherently at the end of races.
Nor do I need him babbling his nonsense throughout.
If you want to change something, you complain.

You'll need to stop he's funny as hell when they are racing 100 plus miles it gets boring at least he keeps it interesting. If you don't like him change the channel. Wow you people need to seriously take a look at yourselves before throwing rocks at others. I'm sure that people who know you will say that there are things about you they don't like. I have a big mouth and I'm not afraid to use it people either hate me or love me for it but You'll always know where I'm coming from. So go look in a mirror first before you go after someone and think about how'd you feel if someone started a petition against you.
