Kirby is the worse commentator of all time. He is under prepared, uninteresting and gets excited at nothing. He is literally unbearable to listen to. Sadly with ITV racing losing the rights I will have no choice but to listen to his utter drivel

He is the main english-language commentator for the Ski Racing World Cup, yet he quite clearly does not know (and does not care to know) what he's talking about half the time. He doesn't have any background in ski racing so it's understandable that he doesn't seem to know anything, however I don't really understand why he's the commentator when there's so many people who could be instead. It's frustrating when he makes so many things up and disrespectful when he seems to know so little about these world-class athletes (even mispronouncing the names of anglophone athletes e.g. Bridger Gile from USA during Sölden today). Like today at Sölden, he didn't really seem to know who Alexis Pinterault was (mispronouncing his name too) despite the fact that he's a legend and veteran of the sport. I have nothing against him personally and his commentary is sometimes entertaining when he cracks jokes, however I wish that either he would actually try to understand the sport or they would replace him with someone who is actually from a ski racing background.
