In a time in history when so many conflicts occur between the public and law enforcement, this is a sad event. Any individual who can work with high school students and earn their respect is a blessing to the community.

Officer Deane was absolutely fabulous with the students (and faculty) at our High School. It dismays me that he was released w/o reason. I noticed on the Sheriff's Facebook page that juvenile crime is down in Greene. That Officer Deane was a fairly large part of that should be obvious to a stone blind person. Is that how our Sheriff's Department rewards an excellent officer? We had an officer in whom we (students and staff) felt we could trust and to whom we could relate. In these days that is not an easy thing to accomplish. He should have been shown more respect and been cited for his abilities, not "let go '... a euphamism for being fired...and for no reason that they can tell us. Makes one wonder what it was!
