Sorry but this is absurd! They could of tasered him but instead shot him over and over again. I belive this is wrong on so many levels. These cops should go down! They could of dealt with it another way without destroying his life and his family's life. My condolences goes out to his family. He was my friends best friend. He did NOT deserve this!

I am Metis - there is some paranoia among whites about Indiginous people - a tendency by government and RCMP to make rush decisions and judgements based on a whole class of people - But James Hayward is a person - the RCMP should have Indigenous officers policing remote locations. This is one more reason sovereignty needs to be granted to Indigenous people - which is a step that naturally flows and follows the recommendations of the Reconciliation Committee. One of the most important to recognize Indigenous people as a Founding Nation of Confederation,.Obviously, two officers with weapons can control a person with a knife. There is no hurry - the only issue really is the motivation to save a life. Respect James Hayward and his family. 1)Disband an apartheid police force , 2)have the PM sign his impeachment papers brought by his own party. 3) Invoke all provisions of the Reconciliation Committee now. But most importantly - 4) have a State funeral paid for by the government to honour James - in the same way the Honorable Jack Layton was honored. ( funeral paid by the Government of Canada) Really, to carry out all four items is the honorable thing to do. Really, no investigation is needed. Two officers - two guns , one knife - there is only ONE conclusion. Do the right thing - Respect James and give him a State funeral with full honours. No investigation needed - open and shut - Homicide - deliberate killing. The logic is easy - the majority of reasoning people will reach the same conclusion.

Police need to stop war against citizens! Go to Afghanistan if you want to shoot your guns! No honour in killing citizens that our army fights to protect!

Outrageous! The cops need to be held accountable and go to jail for this! Enough is enough and the public won't stand for it anymore!

cops need to start utilizing their training to subdue people, rather than relying on their guns as the first step against another person. The priority needs to be taking offenders in alive. This cop needs to learn that lesson.

This man was a violent offender. Sure this is a tragic event but anyone that approaches a police officer with a knife in their hand is risking loosing their live.

Different measures could have been taken considering he was out in the open with no one around him to harm other than himself. Even with him standing back up. The odds of him walking too far with being shot would have been limited. Plus there were two police officers. Are they not trained to subdue and take down? I hope the local RCMP make this right for the family in a state of grief. My condolences and thoughts for the Jame's family during this time.

Please find the justice required to this horrific day. This young man did not need to die. I pray that the family finds comfort. My heart goes out to this family. No matter what type of person the police may try to make James out to be I feel that a person's life was taken and was this the only recourse for such a violent death?

that was uncalled for from the police. two shots should have given them enough time to subdue him and handcuff him not another 3 or more shots that kill this young man. i bet he was intoxicated after autopsy on James. It's not like him to do that when he was sober!! just saying. R.I.P. James <3. There will be Justice for you for the officer(s )who killed you. Til we meet again <3

Condolences to his family & friends. I feel heartbroken knowing they have no answers. Perhaps we need to look at who is really sick in the head here.
