So sad and so terrible what happened to James. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. The RCMP are far to aggressive and this is happening way too much. People are dying at the hands of the very people who promise to keep us safe and help us. If you do not do exactly what they want exactly when you are told to they will hurt or kill you. We are actually paying taxes for this? They have guns, tasers, body armor and all the training necessary to handle situations without anyone getting hurt. That is their job. The RCMP do this and then get away with it. Their is little accountability. I hope James family go after the Minister of Justice in a Civil court for what has happened. The government has a slush fund specifically to pay off people for the crimes of the RCMP. If people went after them more often then maybe things would change.

My sincere condolences to the family. Not knowing all the circumstances, the public needs to know what other less lethal types of force were available in Port Hardy to the RCMP. In more progressive policing agencies such as Vancouver lifes have been saved when using devices such as the bean-bag round shotgun. Finally, I pray that first and foremost constructive communication with the victim was conveyed before the shots were fired and not simply commands.

How very sad. I used to baby sit him when he was little. My condolences to his family. Those police officers should not have shot him. That was uncalled for. Did they not pass training!!!

R C M P should definitely have more no lethal force training. Tragedies like this occur all the time. It's pretty bullshit when two trained officers can't take down a kid with a knife.

This was an act that can not go unpunished. Why in the name of all that is holy did they have to shoot him to kill? Could they not have brought him down and subdued him? Someone better answer for this injustice.
