The organisation has been encouraged to apply for funding by funding body on several occasions including this time and then refused the three year funding it applied for. Without Financial support Kala The Arts runs risk of closure, the financial support would help the organisation to sustain its regular activities, engage in community events through the year and nurture future talent. Without this the local people in the community are in danger of not seeing Asian Arts practises at all and losing their cultural inheritance.
We do not agree with the decision the council have made.
Please support us in our bid to get funding for Kala The Arts from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and help us in our endeavour to promote South Asian Arts in the region. Thank you very much

The momentum behind this petition highlights the genuine importance of Kala The Arts to our community. It is clear that many people value the preservation of these cultural practices and understand the necessity of securing this funding.

Kala the Arts is a key organisation in the area. As a student who has been learning for 12 years it has definitely had a positive impact on my learning and cultural awareness.
Kala -The arts is the only organisation in this area that promotes South Asian arts. It provides excellent lessons in music and dance and provides a platform for many young talents to perform and be in touch with their cultural heritage. I will be heart broken if this organisation cannot carry on anymore due to financial constraint.
for the growth and future of our multicultural society need more help ( financial and guidelines) from local government.. So expecting will help us .thank you.
Kala The Arts has been provoding marvellous performance and teaching in music and dance. We are proud to have this organisation in Hampshire. It is important have this cultural organisation for the new young generation.
One of its kind in the UK . My family learns with this organisation as there is nothing like this available anywhere .The organisation has helped my daughter grow in confidence and she is very happy learning . She feels happy sharing her skills with others She will be very sad if her classes are no longer available. Please do make the funding available for Kala the Arts, so that the communities can continue to benefit from the organisation.Kala The Arts is an excellent Arts organisation specialised in Odissi .The organisation brings us closer to our culture.I feel proud when my daughter goes and performs in front of our family back in India.

We have worked with Kala the Arts for a great number of years and have performed at many community and arts events with junior school children in Basingstoke. Good luck Sushmita with your efforts to keep Kala going.

Kala the arts has been a positive impact in the society. Their specialization in Odyssey dance is invaluable gift to Basingstoke. It helps the children to learn about the art of classical dancing and knowledge of other south Asian dances and singing. It would be useful for society if Kala is around in Basingstoke.
