Fox Sports Detroit has released an official statement about Larry Murphy's termination:
“We wanted our primary team of Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels to call the remaining games as the Red Wings make a push for the playoffs. We thought it was only fair to let Larry know as soon as possible that he would not be scheduled for any more assignments. We thank Larry for his contributions to our telecasts over the years and we wish him well.”

I honestly cannot believe they let him go mid-season when the chemistry on those broadcasts was the only thing getting me through the tough games. My inbox has been overflowing with people who miss hearing Murph talk strategy and I am currently scrolling through all these stories about why he matters so much to the fans.

I see the counter creeping up toward that first hundred mark and honestly it makes me think about all those games Murph called over the years (he really had such a distinct rhythm). If we can push past this number before the office staff gets back on Monday it might actually force someone to look at the inbox for once.

I miss Murphy. Fox made a huge mistake. Eliot is decent but lacks the personality Murph has. I can't see ratings increasing with the loss of Larry.
Bring back Larry Murphy and let Darrin Elliot go. Osgood is fine but Elliot has to go. Love Mick and Ken.
Mr. Murphy did an excellent job in anylizing the hockey games. Mr. Osgood cannot even talk. Please bring back Larry Murphy.
BRING LARRY BACK. Osgood is boring and has no energy compared to Murph. Such a bad move by the network.
Murph knew the game inside out. Fox really dropped the ball on this one. Watching the intermission without him just isnt the same man.

I know it's too late but I finally got involved in Twitter and stuff... Larry is the greatest! Whatever he is doing now, I wish him the best.! I miss seeing him! If he ever wants to meet a #1 fan - I am the one!
