The only reason Salt Lake City PD finally took some action was that Det. Payne's victim put the incident on the internet. Up to that point she was being blown off, despite trying for a month to have Det. Payne held accountable.

Officer Payne AND Lt Tracy both need to be fired. If we want to see police officers in this country respected, as most should be, then its the responsibilty of the head of the Depts to fire them when they are 100% out of line, abuse power, etc. Get rid of the bad apples, simply placing them on leave, with pay, is merely a slap on the wrist and causes a lot of ppl to lose respect for the police. No one should be above the law, that includes law enforcement. This officer arrested bc she wouldnt break the law. How asinine is that?!

How can the police be so obtuse or unaware of Supreme Court rulings on blood collection.
This is just police bullying from Officer Payne and his supervisor. We as American citizens are not going to tolerate this behavior.

Both my brother and daughter are nurses. To think this is the way they could be treated by "law enforcement" (more like "self enforcement") while upholding their duties is beyond appalling. THESE TWO MUST GO.

Total abuse of power. He had no warrant. The patient was not under arrest, and was unconsious and could not consent. HIPAA laws exist for a reason.
