As an ER nurse for 10 years, I am appalled and saddened by this Officer and EMT'S despicable actions against a fellow nurse. His comments before and after this incident prove he is unfit to serve the public. Please remove him and his supervisor who was on camera from your payroll and the public who depend on compassionate, levelheaded public servants.

He needs to be kept off the streets. If he's willing to abuse a nurse who did nothing wrong, I can't imagine how he treats a person who might have actually committed a crime.

As to the Nurse that was manhandled in Salt Lake City, she's a hero. I went so far as to research and follow the story on the Salt Lake City Tribune, (http://www.sltrib.com/ )and other media sources as well as read comments by the Mayor and others. Personally, to say "I'm angry..." is an understatement.
As to the detective, I hope his "momentary laps of judgement" follows him for the rest of his career. One can only wonder how many times this has happened before and was not caught on camera? A Detective should have been above this, and his supervisor obviously felt he had to back him, but should be disciplined as well.
The statement about retribution indicates the character of the Detective and shouldn't be passed off as a casual remark. It confirms bad judgement and a mindset that should be dealt with. It's evident there is no remorse, nor is there is even perception that his behavior was unethical, illegal, and unwarranted.
Anyone who watches the full video and hears the audio is bound to be severely impacted and will be extremely wary of law enforcement in the future. This has gone viral internationally.
Singlehandedly, a single Detective has forever damaged the reputation of law enforcement, with health care professionals. Instead of working together, this will foster mistrust. As to the other officers involved, you should be ashamed.

I know this woman's experience all too well, for I encountered a similar treatment by police in Brevard county FL - FIRE him! He is a detriment to law abiding citizens, his badge, and to his department.

Det. Jeff Payne should be relieved of duty. Administrative leave is not sufficient. He should be fired. I am a retired nurse. This officer was completely in the wrong! No excuse!

Arresting an RN for doing her job because it doesn't fall into a particular officers idea of what is "right" is Wrong. To compound that his rough assault on this nurse was totally uncalled for. If he wanted a BAC that badly, why not arrest the "victim".(patient) ?
