Geographic Preference for Hillcrest Elementary & Howard Middle School Magnet Programs

Do what the People in these neighborhoods are asking for, keep it as it is.

We moved to the area with our 2 young boys so that they would go to Hilcrest and Howard and now the board wants to make up commute? No way. Please give preference to those within the current zoning.

Leave local schools local please. This plan does not build or Enchante community. Make the magnet shook somewhere you are closing a school. Do not shut out local residents and increase time needed fuel consumed and travel distance for class and extracurricular activities Thank you

Please keep our local kids local.

It's only fair that neighborhood kids should be eligible to attend these schools first.

Needless to say with the Downtown property taxes we pay, the Downtown residents should have first rights to the schools in the neighborhood. We live here to have the ability to walk to work, stores and especially to take our kids to school!

Though we all understand that change and progress can be good, I believe there are more consequences to this potential shift, rather than benefits. I support our neighbors and our community in order for our City to more closely assess this situation and approach it with a more strategic solution.

We pay the heavy tax toll for downtown and the schools but don't get to attend the ones close by ??? How fair is this ??? How crazy to watch Howard to finally have fantastic improvements to be ripped away from the people who support and pay for it . It's always best for children to attend the closest schools and have neighborhood unity and cohesiveness , This chaos will hurt home values . I grew up in Orlando when in the 60's and 70's school districts changed drastically . It was not fun! Actually , that's the time and a big reason Lake Highland Prep was created!

Let kids have preferences if they lived near by.

We bought a house in this neighborhood because we could walk to so many basic services. I want my little boy to be able to walk to school when the time comes.

I don't have kids yet but when I do I want them to be able to walk to school!

Neighborhood schools were built for the purpose of being neighborhood schools. People purchase homes near schools that they want their children to attend. Sounds like a big ole lawsuit waiting to happen, if you ask me!

We moved to this neighborhood so our child can walk to school and go to school with children in his neighborhood

It begins to sound like discrimination against the people who chose to live near good, walkable schools to force them to pass those schools to attend a school outside of their area.

We live in Lake Lawsona and have an almost 2 year old. We were counting on sending him to Hillcrest and would hope that we would have a geographic preference.
