To this day gender equality is still an issue that all of us face in a day to day lives but is rarely talked about. Many people don't understand the importance of this issue and how it affects our lives.
Some reasons why gender equality is still an issue:
- The gender pay gap still exists in many counties
- Access to education is still unavailable to many young girls -> women make up more than two-thirds of the world’s illiterate adults
- Child marriages are still happening
- Women are still not permitted to serve in frontline combat in some countries such as the UK, Turkey, and Slovakia.
- In many democracies there is an unequal amount of genders, which is an problem as minorities cannot get their voice across
