My request is that School needs to look at current situation from fairness to both school and parents and not from profit maximisation perspective. We know that some of the cost incurred by school like teachers salary etc shall not be reduced therefore fees should be paid but some of school running cost is reduced due to kids not in school and reduction in its profit is certainty possible as this is not the time about making profit when quality of education of kids and life of parents is impacted. GEMS should consider general reduction of Term3 fee basis savings made in the expanses with kids not going to school during this situation and reducing its profit margin AND selective discount to families impacted financially by the situation. At the same time, school should continue to pay small workers who are hard hit by the situation. Best way is to be transparent about fees expanses and profit with parents and build trust with parents as there is expectation for such action from school basis what is happening around globally. If trust is not built, I feel parents would look for options at other similar school and those school only looking for profit will end up loosing in long run.

Full fees for online teaching is not justified at all. And for KG student online learning is not use full at all.

The entire burden of teaching children has fallen upon the parents. Moreover with the school infrastructure completely shut, the school is morally obliged to pass on their reduction in costs on to the parents.

Before COVID-19 , many people were already suffering financial stress because of the market slow down , job losses , and doubtful collections. I'm not an exception of these cases. Since the rise of COVID-19 and following development the financial situation became much more tough and hard to sustain to the extent the day to day expenses become a challenge. Until now non of us can imagine or speculate the magnitude of the negative economic effects not only locally but worldwide. We can only classify this as a disaster situation that will be recorded in the history. Therefore , we require government intervention to help by limiting the burden on the parents and apply certain measures. From my side I suggest the following: 1- Stand still period till year end where schools dont disrupt the children education which will obviously continue online till then. 2- By that time will all be hoping that the peak of the COVID-19 will pass and we will have a clear picture of the following consequences on the economy and businesses. 3- By that time also our requests for fee reduction or repayment plans will stem of out facts and real life status. 4- Any stimulus packages , reduction of utilities, or rent, should directly be reflected on the students fees' and not on the profit margins of the educational institution. 5- A regulatory intervention from bodies like KHDA will be highly needed to control the situation and dictate terms in favor of the student who is the most important part in this formula (School , Parents , Students) and above all to save the reputation of the education in UAE.
