It is absolutely unjustified to make the full payment towards the term three whereas, we as parents are not availing those services in comparison with the payment that the school is demanding.

Hi. We notice that the teachers are online for sometime in the morning and they disappear leaving the working parents in a delaima of having the kids to complete their worksheets for the next day . We don’t see any contribution from the teachers end and the parents have to sit and explain the kids how to complete it

There are no overhead charges and school is saving huge in terms of air conditioning, cleaning, Security and so many other utilities and services. So there should be at least 40% to 45% reduction in tuition fee.

We as parents are doing most of the teaching at home only material is being provided by ull. We are also in lack of funds.

KHDA was very clear when they said compromise from both parents and schools, we didn’t say we’re not gonna pay but also paying the full amount isn’t fair and I don’t see any kind of compromise from Gems side

Distant learning means virtual classrooms and lessons carried out by the TEACHERS and not simply sending a few slides and video tutorials and asking for work and assignments to be submitted by the end of the day and taking "attendance" for the day, this is basically "self educating". Parents are playing teacher role at home across ALL subjects needless to mention we are not qualified or certified educators. Apps and and worksheets fall under homework which is always considered as extra help for the children's education and not the CORE fundamental educational tool/platform. It's very demanding and is leaving a very negative impact on kids and us as parents. This was acceptable for a duration of 2 weeks until they go back to school, but not for the remainder of the academic year. The academic year should be suspended and lost term to be made up for at the beginning of next year (they can start earlier...as there would be no need for 2 months summer break), like other countries have done. They would have been at home for a full 4-5months already!!! We also didn't receive any information from the school regarding fees reduction. This is not a sustainable way of learning for such an extended period of time...especially for primary students. Anxiety levels are high for everyone being quarantined, no social interaction or sports/outdoor activities. The least that can be done from the school's side is offer a discount for term 3 and postpone any re-enrollment fees for now until the situation has more clarity.
