Lift Australian Kava Import Restrictions

I would like to have kava ban lifted, I take small amounts. It helps to claim my nervous system. Have medical condition, am on so much medication , I find kava helps. I humbly request Australian Government to make legal as we can't travel, I know our brothers and can't travel to buy kava. Why so such a ban rule for the Island people they have being using kava, gathering with no violence but no ban on alcohol which at times creates violence. Please Government make kava legal.

I have been drinking KAVA for over 40 years - in moderation. Never did me any harm. At age 74 it helps to relieve back pain and arthritis pain for days at a time. No addiction.

The proposed ban and Arnheim Land is a diversion from underlying root cause issues. For Pasifika people is a ban amounts to a social justice human rights issue threatening cultural identity, empowerment and wellbeing.

People who drink Kava appropriately are never aggressive or abusive but are happy, calm and sociable. Island communities should not be deprived of the priviledge to exercise their customs and traditions. If free needles are provided to drug abusers in Australia why are Pacific Islanders not allowed to drink Kava?

I would like to see the ban on Kava lifted as this is a culture specific product that has great meaning in Pacific Island society. It is a shame to deprive the Pacific Island community of something that is extremely important in their culture.

Please do not ban Kava, it is an important part of Pacific Island culture. Kava is used in religious and cultural events, birthdays and weddings, banning Kava will be stripping future generations of that right to a proper cultural ceremony.

White Australians should understand that banning Kava imports to Australia would not solved the problems of substance abuse within the indigenous communities and especially in Arnhem Land...the importance of Kava to the Pacific Islands Communities should be considered seriously...
