Gateway Academy lunch and toilet breaks.

I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. If you have visited this school or spoken to the staff you will understand that they have systems in place to ensure the students are safe and treated well they have many clubs on at both their breaks and I’d say children could well be choosing to go to clubs rather than the canteen. I’ve had a tour of this school and there are many places to sit and various points to get different types of food. Both my children having nothing but wonderful things to say. They don’t allow children to wander corridors and enter toilets when they please as a they should be learning. If you look at the schools recent progress score , they are one of the top schools in thurrock. They know what they are doing and I trust their judgement. Instead of putting together petitions why don’t you speak to the school and ask to view what is going on in the school instead of making judgements. People are too eager to look for the issues these days rather than the many positives.

I’m totally disgusted that anyone on this planet can say no to anyone wanting to go to the toilet let alone a child. Who ever put this into place should be removed from their job.

My son says not enough time , canteen is always crowded if the tables are full you can't stand in the canteen you have to go outside, all year groups at the same time now , if you do get a chance to get in the queue there is nothing left ... And the toilets not allowed in during lesson apparently the teachers get told off if they allow you to go ?

My child wet himself during the school day as he didn't have time to use the bathroom and his teacher didn't let him go. The school didn't care just gave him jogging bottoms. Disgusting.

My daughter has got upset in class many times as she has been in so much pain trying to hold it and also after school coming out in agony as toilet’s are locked . When I spoke to the office about a toilet pass I was told my daughter could not have one and she would get used to it after a couple of weeks , what a joke .

This is unacceptable. How are children meant to learn things when all they can think about is peeing?

I barely ever need the toliet in lessons but when i need to im not aloud

It’s disgusting that our children have to make that choice between eating or going to the toilet.I’m fed up with it.I understand that some kids will bunk off lesson and hang in the toilets but that’s why you have staff on toilet duty.That’s what we had in my day.Our childrens health matters just as much as an education if not more!!

This is ridiculous to not let a Child use the toilet as and when needed! Has anyone even looked into the health complications this can cause in later life by holding in urine! To not let a child use the toilet when they need to go is boarder line child abuse in my eyes. If a child come into school and reported there parents didn’t let them go to the toilet when they needed to and then say had an accident I’m pretty sure the school would be straight on the phone to the parents! Why is it different in a school setting. I’m disgusted by this! Absolutely bonkers!
