Since when did school administrations stop using common sense? Would they have preferred Ms Rush to stand by and watch another girl die? "Possession and use of a controlled substance" should NOT be on their permanent record. They're honor students and this will follow them for a long, long time. Come on, Garland. Use some sense!

Common sense & some command decisions &/or judgment call... Seem to be lacking here. A teacher should have helped... And most certainly this particular policy should have been made clear, as I'm sure there are more children with asthma. In fact.. How bout once it's put in the child's file.. That this policy be pointed out. Why are you so anxious to dirty these girls records with something so blanket.

Did the school administrators totally lose their minds? Take stupid pills for breakfast? Lose touch with reality? Obviously these geniuses have NO clue how it feels to not be able to breathe. I have to also wonder what moron considers an asthma inhaler a controlled substance. Ah, yes, it's a prescription drug, and it's an aerosol. If you can't breathe, you certainly don't have time (or breath) to ask permission to go to the nurse and then walk to the office and wait while someone gets it for you. Idiots. I'm not a use happy person, but if these were my kids, I'd use that school district in a heartbeat. And I'd homeschool my kid from here on out. Appalling.

This story is ridiculous. I understand the dangers of sharing medicine but thirty days in an alternative school is outrageous.
