Two middle school girls were suspended for sharing an inhaler during an asthma attack at a Garland ISD school. Ms. Kyle and Ms. Rush were suspended for 3days and faced up to 30 days in an alternative school because the school said the two possessed and used a controlled substance, an asthma inhaler.
Garland ISD has uploaded the 30 day suspension, but School officials said both students' permanent file will reference the suspension for the use of a controlled substance - the inhaler.
Since when did school administrations stop using common sense? Would they have preferred Ms Rush to stand by and watch another girl die? "Possession and use of a controlled substance" should NOT be on their permanent record. They're honor students and this will follow them for a long, long time. Come on, Garland. Use some sense!
