Having spent a number of years helping to campaign for a proper rail service on the Westbury-Swindon via Melksham route, which is now in place, I would like to offer my full support to the Gainsborough Rail Action Plan and those who seek to promote it as they set out on a similar quest.

Everyone is wetting themselfs over HS2 and then you have a town like Gainsborough where the main station only has a service that runs 1 day a week, think the department for transport need to wake up and smell the coffee.

They say the rail passgenger forecast is to grow at 3% a year, sadly in Gainsborough it seems to be going backwards due to the lack of investment at both stations and the poor service Northern Rail provide to Central station.

government needs to spent money on linking up railways like gainsborough all over the country instead of closing them down.

I found the link to this petition on the Friends Of The Brigg Line page, I have never been to Gainsborough but common sence says if you have a station called Central then you should have a better service than the one that is provided at present.

I wish you every success, Gainsborough looks well-connected on the map, but deserves a far greater level of service than is actually provided.

The link to this page was retweeted by Northern Rail this morning, I live in Wakefield and have never been to Gainsborough but have heard about the towns main station has an infrequent service. Im happy to sign this as it looks like Gainsborough is missing out.

I live in Worksop and have never been to Gainsborough for many years, I decided to use the train service that runs on a Saturday to Central station as I was told this was the nearist to the town, It came as a shock leaving the train what a state the station is in, it is an eyesore that looks like its been in decline for years, I was then shocked to find that right next to it was a shopping centre called marshalls yard, it was like chalk and cheese, I had a great time in Gainsborough and will be returning again with the family however something needs to be done with that station and the poor train services.

Central station needs more trains running it's right in the centre of town and easily accessed by bus.

although I no longer reside in the town I am dependent on the trqain system to visit my parents as I cannot drive for medical reasons. A town that is set to double is size will only benefit economically from an improved rail system. The local council need to take action on this matter and stand up up for people whi do not own cars.

I attend Lincoln College in Gainsborough, it would be better for a number of students if a better service ran from Central Station, Lea Road station is quite a way from the town centre with a poor bus service connecting Lea Road to the college.
