The infrastructure is there, and should see use. Similar situations existed on the line to Fishguard Harbour with its 2 trains a day of use only to ferry passengers. A local service of 5 return trains a day has doubled usage in the first 12 months.

When the new Northern Rail franchise comes into play in around 2016, only a fool would not make sure the Brigg Line has some form of weekday service again.

Regular public transport is required by these rural towns to help their regeneration and to allow both the younger and older generations to move around independendantly. There could also be environmental benefits if it cuts car usage.

Having looked at the comment below Ive noticed a floor in the pricing on this line, Sheffield to Cleethorpes via Retford is £21.90 return, the halfway point is Gainsborough Central which is £18.10p return to Cleethorpes, Sheffield to Gainsborough Central is £14.50 return, the whole fare structure on this line need reviewing

Took the fmaily from Shireoaks to Cleethorpes last Saturday and nearly fainted at the price of the train tickets. £56.10p for 2 Adults and 2 Children to goto the seaside for the day on the train.

I commute to Doncaster from Gainsborough Lea Road daily. Both GBL and RET lower level need refurbishing desperately. I totally support an improved timetable for east midlands trains so I could actually have a direct journey to/from Doncaster, and I know a lot of people that would use this service too. I live close to Gainsborough Central so a frequent service to Retford means I could change there for Doncaster, and therefore walk to the station instead of driving to GBL! GBL urgently needs better car parking. Good luck

I remember when Gainsborough Central had a fine station building and was the pride of the town, It's so sad to look at it now looking like a wreck with a poor train service to go with it.

Fully support any move to improve the services on the Brigg Line.The reduction to a Saturdays Only Service back in 1993 should never have happened. More use could be made of the line in regards to diversion of passenger services in the event of an incident on the Sheffield-Doncaster-Barnetby Route. The situation with the sunday service for Sheffield-Lincoln is long overdue for improvement. Surely a minimum of a summer sunday morning service would be in orser-if it became all year round that would be even better !!!!!

I live in Kirton in Lindsey and work in Brigg. As the manager of Martin Mccolls I've notice an increase in people shopping in the town. Having a daily train service can only be a good thing for the area. I support you 100%

Sunday services on the Lincoln to Gainsborough line are so poor, first train leaves at 1515pm, Why for god sake ?

Having a link with both Cleethorpes and Lincoln two big shopping areas and areas of historical and natural beauty makes sense. Having a train service would reduce car travel as people could get too two major areas without having to drive.
